Fresh Food and a Little Hope: February at Bow Street
February in Maine has its moments. If you ski, you’re probably pretty happy right now. The rest of us are finding other ways to get through it, and honestly, a little comfort food can go a long way.
The deli is stocked with everything you need for an easy dinner. Our team make it all right here: potato salad, Italian green beans, creamy bacon pea salad. Good, simple food. And if you want something hot and ready, we’re making pizzas to order. (Just remember the deli closes at 7 these days.)
Here’s something else that helps: We’re seeing more fresh greens coming in from local Maine farms. The days are getting longer, the sun is climbing higher in the sky, and the farmers who grow year-round in greenhouses are starting to feel it. It’s not a lot, but when they show up it really makes us smile. When we get these in, they go quickly. We usually post them on Instagram, so keep an eye out if you’re hungry for fresh, organic greens.
We’ve seen a lot of Februaries since 1946, and every single one of them has eventually turned into March… and, yeah, I guess that’s a whole other story.
Stop in anytime (6:30am-8pm.) We’re always glad to see you.
